Literacy is developed through lots of different areas of the curriculum.

In Literacy we learn to read, write and spell.  We read in groups every week, individually and also study longer books as a whole class.  The children all do "Big Writing" every week which means they do one piece of longer writing.  Handwriting, speaking and listening and drama are also taught as part of the Literacy curriculum.

In September Class 2 are studying a book called "Goodnight Mr Tom." by Michelle Margorian.  This is a story about a boy who is evacuated from London to the countryside during World War II.  This will work is part of our half term topic on World War II.  We will be reading, writing diaries, doing drama, drawing, role playing, dressing up, making and tasting food from the era and making shelters as part of this project.
